China's first megawatt high temperature superconducting machine was successfully developed
China's first 1000kW high-temperature superconducting machine developed by China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation's No. 712 Research Institute has recently passed the acceptance of the Ministry of Science and Technology in Beijing. It indicates that China has already possessed the design and manufacturing capabilities of MW-class high-temperature superconducting machines, and has become one of the few countries in the world to master the key technologies of high-temperature superconducting machines.
High-temperature superconducting materials have zero resistance characteristics in low temperature environment, and their current carrying capacity is far superior to ordinary copper wires. High-capacity high-temperature superconducting machines using high-temperature superconducting magnets have significant advantages such as high torque density and large single-capacity limit capacity. Its volume and weight are estimated to be 1/2 and 1/3 of conventional motors, respectively. It has the advantages of light weight, small size, high efficiency, low noise, easy maintenance, flexible operation, and large single-capacity limit capacity. And new energy and other fields have bright application prospects.
The development of the 712 Institute 1000kW high-temperature superconducting motor broke through the main key technologies of the high-temperature superconducting machine. The prototype has completed the multi-case test, and the motor including the low-temperature system power consumption at 500 rpm/1000 kW full load operation. The efficiency is 95%, the technical indicators meet the design requirements, the motor and low temperature system are stable, and the overall indicators have reached the international advanced level.
As an important research direction of marine electric propulsion and wind power generation, high-temperature superconducting machines have become a research hotspot in the field of high-temperature superconducting applications in recent years. With the continuous development of high-temperature superconducting materials technology, superconducting machine technology will realize engineering application and produce significant economic and social benefits.
