At present, the energy structure of our country is still relatively backward, and the proportion of coal has reached 70%. In 2013, the country's total coal consumption was nearly 4 billion tons, of which 2.1 billion tons were used for power generation. Experts said that the proportion of coal used for power generation in China will gradually increase from the current 53% to more than 70%, which will lead to further increase in carbon dioxide emissions.

"Although the country is now vigorously promoting coal to gas, but 94% of China's proven reserves of primary energy is coal, this can not be changed, the total coal consumption will continue to increase for a long time, so only accelerate the realization of coal efficiency Clean and use, in order to minimize carbon dioxide emissions." Ni Weidou said that China's coal-fired power plants must improve coal-fired efficiency and reduce coal consumption.

At present, the average coal consumption of coal-fired power plants in China is 320 g / kWh, which is still at a relatively high level. But in fact, China has independently developed a generator set with the world's leading operating efficiency, but it has not been promoted. Ni Weidou revealed that the coal consumption of the power plant designed and developed by Shanghai Waigaoqiao No. 3 Power Plant has reached 276 g / kWh, which is lower than the 286.08 g / kWh of the No. 3 unit of the Danish North Jutland Power Plant with the highest operating efficiency in the world. Ranked first in the Isogo Power Plant Unit No. 1 303 g / kWh coal consumption.

“This technology reduces the coal consumption per kilowatt hour by 44 grams, which can make our power plant burn nearly 200 million tons of coal per year. At present, we are at the peak of a new round of power plant construction, we must ensure that the application consumes significantly like this. Advanced technology, this is very significant for reducing emissions." Ni Weidou said.

In addition, Ni Weidou said that China should also vigorously develop coal chemical projects, such as coal-to-liquids and coal-to-gas, which will help clean and efficient use of coal, and the recycling of carbon dioxide will be easier.
