Import and export in December exceeded expectations for China's trade data to pick up
On January 13, the data released by the General Administration of Customs showed that the total value of China's import and export of goods in 2015 was 24.59 trillion yuan, down 7% from 2014. Huang Yuping, spokesperson of the General Administration of Customs, said that in the complicated and severe situation, there are still some positive changes and highlights in the development of foreign trade, mainly in the following aspects:
First, the trade method is more reasonable
Under the vigorous promotion of the State Council's measures of “stable growth and restructuring”, the import and export value of China's general trade in 2015 was 13.29 trillion yuan, down 6.5%, accounting for 54% of the total value of imports and exports, and its proportion increased from the previous year. 0.3 percentage points; of which exports increased by 2.2%.
Second, the diversification of trading partners has made positive progress
In 2015, the EU, the United States, and ASEAN were my top three trading partners, with bilateral trade values of 3.51 trillion, 3.47 trillion, and 2.93 trillion yuan respectively. In the same period, China's trade in emerging markets such as ASEAN and India has performed relatively well. The bilateral trade value of ASEAN has dropped slightly by 0.6%, and that of India has increased by 2.5%. The performance is better than the overall situation of import and export.
Third, private enterprises show vitality in foreign trade
In 2015, the import and export of private enterprises in China was 9.1 trillion yuan, a slight decrease of 0.2%, accounting for 37% of the total value of imports and exports, an increase of 2.5 percentage points; of which exports increased by 3.1%.
Fourth, the export commodity structure is further optimized
In 2015, China exported 8.15 trillion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 1.2%, accounting for 57.7% of the total export value, an increase of 1.7 percentage points over the previous year. In the same period, the export value of 7 categories of labor-intensive products such as textiles, clothing, bags, shoes, toys, furniture and plastic products totaled 2.93 trillion yuan, down 1.7%, accounting for 20.7% of the total export value; among them, toys and furniture Exports of luggage and plastic products continued to grow.
