United States: embarking on the next generation of military aviation engines and 6th generation fighters
In 2015, the United States, the number one powerhouse, launched a series of products on advanced military aero engines, turboshaft engines and civil aviation engines.
Military aviation engine direction, according to Washington News in October 2015, the US Air Force has determined the next-generation military aviation engine technology direction, namely adaptive engine technology, after demonstrating the results of the previous verification machine research, September 16, GE Aviation Both the group and Pratt & Whitney have submitted research and development plans for the Air Force's Adaptive Engine Program (AETP, AdaptiveEngineTransitionProgram), and the US Air Force may award the contract AETP to the two companies in early 2016. The contract period is expected to be five years, with each company granting $950 million in funding and possibly including the transfer of many engineering-utilizable technologies accumulated by Air Force Research Laboratories.
The Air Force is expected to finalize air engine demand in the 1930s, and the 6th generation will also be released. Therefore, the AETP plan will be a parallel development plan with the 6th generation of US military aircraft. Pratt & Whitney and GE will need to study the different needs of the three major aircraft and test different concepts. In the AETP program, the engine company will contract with Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Northrop Grumman to study the integration of the new engine and the next generation of aircraft in design, assembly and maintenance. An important effort of the contract is to provide an analysis basis for the Navy and Air Force on the FA-XX and F-X sixth-generation aircraft solutions.
With such impressive results, the US Air Force did not buy it. It also announced a prize of $2 million in August to encourage experts and companies in civil engineering to obtain a revolutionary new one that can double the current combustion efficiency. The drone engine is then extended to military turbofan aero engines. But the bonuses are so low, Pratt & Whitney, GE and other big companies have expressed their reluctance to participate.
At the same time, the US Army also issued preliminary design requirements for improving the turbine engine plan IEP at the end of September, and was highlighted by the US Army leaders as the number one task for the Army engine. The ITEP program targets approximately 3,000 UH-60 Blackhawk and AH-64 Apache helicopters to provide a more powerful, fuel-efficient alternative engine.
ITEP calls it the Turbo Engine Project, which targets the production of a 3,000-horsepower (2,205 kW) turboshaft engine that is 50% more powerful and 25% more fuel efficient than the Apache and Blackhawk's now-equipped General Electric T700. The latest AH-64E Apache and UH-60M Blackhawk equipped T700-GE-701D engine with a power of 1,700-2,000 hp and is intended to be replaced in about 8 years. The ITEP project also promises to improve "high, hot" performance at 6000 feet, 95 degrees Fahrenheit, as well as longer life and lower maintenance costs.
In terms of civil aviation engines, GE Aviation announced the assembly of its 1000th GEnx engine in October last year and tested and tested the more advanced GE9X core machine, while GE and France's Safran joint venture CFM International announced its The LEAP-1A engine was certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency EASA and the FAA FAA, and was the only engine manufacturer to receive dual agency certification and delivered the first LEAP-1C engine to COMAC.
On the turbo engine, in November, at the annual meeting of the American Business Aviation Association, Textron Airlines and GE announced a cooperation plan, GE Aviation Group launched a new turboprop engine, a single-engine vortex for the Textron Aviation Group Paddle aircraft power.
In September 2015, GE announced the launch of the latest aviation gas turbine LM6000-PF+, and acquired the German MTU Aero Engine Company in October. According to relevant analysis, this shareholding may bring additional revenue of 1 billion euros to MTU. On the heavy-duty gas turbine, the US GE company acquired the fourth-ranked Alstom of France, which almost monopolized half of the world's power generation gas turbine market.
In short, the United States is continuing its efforts in the direction of aero-engines and gas turbines in 2016 and has taken it as a key direction for the recovery of US manufacturing.
UK: The first shareholder of Aero Engines is already a US company
In 2015, it was a very difficult year for British aviation engine manufacturing giant Rolls-Royce. First, there was a constant profit warning signal, which caused the stock price to fall all the way. After that, it was forced to change the CEO, but this did not bring any improvement. In December, when it released five profit warnings, it directly caused the stock price to collapse. More than 20%, the annual decline of more than 50%, the final CEO substitution.
At this time, the US fund company ValueAct took advantage of it and increased its holdings by 1% to 10%, becoming the largest shareholder of Luo Luo Company, and proposed to attend the board of directors and sell the marine power business. After some struggles, Luo Luo finally decided to abandon its previous independent operation in December and compromised with the US investment fund ValueAct, giving them more say in the company's operations.
